I have been working toward this career for 15 years, and have only met one woman who models the career I want-- and even she has not yet made it to full professorship. Nevertheless, my interactions with her have given me the most momentum and enthusiasm for my career that I have ever felt. It should not take 15 years of blind persistence for young female scientists to find a role model.
